"In December 2010, nearly three years after he took power from his ailing brother Fidel Castro, Raúl Castro called on Cubans to be critical of the system, acknowledging that the Communist Party had failed its citizens in myriad ways. Cuba’s diverse and growing community of bloggers and independent journalists have done just that, becoming a powerful alternative to the official press, which for decades has delivered hyperbolic and dull content, but little substantive journalism.

Few segments of Cuban society will stand to benefit more from improved relations between Washington and Havana than this group. As Internet access on the island expands, independent writers could become even more important agents of change."

• US Economy grows at fastest pace in 11 years [USA Today] 

The U.S. economy grew at its fastest pace since 2003 in the third quarter on stronger consumer and business spending.

Gross domestic product (GDP) expanded at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5% in the three months ended Sept. 30.
Consumer spending shot up 3.2%, much faster than the 2.2% previously estimated, led by higher health care outlays.
A measure of business investment rose 8.9%, including a healthy 11% rise in equipment spending, as companies continued to replace worn equipment and expand capacity to meet rising demand.
Government spending also increased more rapidly than estimated at 9.9%, bolstered by a big jump in defense expenditures.
And business stockpiling slowed less than previously estimated.
The gains more than offset a modest downward revision in export growth to 4.5%.
Job growth totaled 321,000 in November, nearly a two-year high."

বর্তমানে দেশের জিডিপিতে এ শিল্পের অবদান ২ দশমিক ২৯ শতাংশ।

এসব উদ্যোগে তরুণদের এগিয়ে আসার আহ্বান জানিয়েছেন ভালবাসি বাংলাদেশে’র আহ্বায়ক জনাব হারুন। তিনি স্বেচ্ছাসেবকদের এগিয়ে আসার জন্য আহবান জানান। ভালবাসি বাংলাদেশে’র অফিসিয়াল ফেসবুক পেজ www.facebook.com/bbbd.co

Views on Marriage [11.24.14]

• Same sex Marriage: Against.

Can't produce offspring.
It's abnormality. It's like someone born with defects, disabilities.

We'll establish Medical / Psychiatric ways of dealing with them; turning someone abnormal into "what is normal / natural".

• Birth Control: "Seems OK".

[Think from this perspective: 

Human history and its progression into the future - has been planned out by God.

God will make sure His plans - the best for humanity - are ful-filled - "at the right time".

So if something is not good for humanity as a whole, then God will make sure - we do not walk that path.

So, if birth control is not OK "for the time" - then events would unfold in such a manner that we cannot adopt it in our society.

Rely on God.]

• Abortion: "Doesn't seem OK".

Very close to killing a human life.

• Divorce: 

In Heaven, you live with your soulmate. So there is no divorce - you never even think of it. 

That's why Jesus in His teachings, taught us not to "divorce".

"Roman Catholic Church leaders from around the world begin a two-week brainstorming session this weekend, on how to better present their teachings on marriage, family life, and sexuality to their flock.

In Vatican terminology, the closed-door session is called an "extraordinary synod".

The 263 participants in the Synod of the Family are almost all celibate males, with no first-hand experience of creating their own families, although a dozen hand-picked Roman Catholic married couples will sit in and share their experience with the synod "fathers".

Pope Francis will address the synod when it opens but intends to use the meeting mainly as a listening experience.

"The rise in global life expectancy is mainly the result of dramatic advances in health care. A Step Towards World Peace: US and Cuba restore Diplomatic Relations after a half Century

President Barack Obama talks with President Raul Castro of Cuba from the Oval Office, on Dec. 16, 2014 in Washington. Obama announced on Dec. 17, plans to restore diplomatic relations with Cuba, over 50 years after they were severed in January 1961.

"The U.S. and Cuba agreed to restore diplomatic ties after a half century of hostility, ending one of the world’s last Cold War standoffs and launching a realignment of the politics of the Americas. 

President Barack Obama and Raúl Castro, in synchronized announcements Wednesday, said that their long-estranged countries would restart cooperation on a range of issues and reestablish an American embassy in Havana that closed in 1961 after the Cuban Revolution. 

The leaders agreed to a series of landmark diplomatic steps after reaching a deal to free U.S. aid worker Alan Gross, who was imprisoned in Cuba for the past five years. The White House also agreed to return three Cuban agents jailed in the U.S. in exchange for Cuba’s release of one unnamed American intelligence operative who had been held for nearly two decades. 

The policy changes would forge significant economic ties between the two nations by allowing American financial institutions to open accounts with Cuban counterparts, easing restrictions on the export of U.S. agricultural and telecommunications gear to Cuba and permitting Americans to use credit and debit cards there. U.S. residents will be allowed to send up to $2,000 every three months to relatives on the island—four times the current limit. 

The new regulations will make it easier for Americans to travel to Cuba under the 12 categories of travel now allowed. 

The Obama administration has also begun the process of removing the U.S. designation of Cuba as a state sponsor of terrorism. 

The softening of U.S. relations with Cuba, a nation of 11 million just 90 miles off the coast of Florida, is the latest in a series of attempts by Mr. Obama to recalibrate American foreign policy as his time in office winds down."

"Fidel Castro has expressed Cuba’s readiness to cooperate with the US in the global fight against Ebola. Cuba has been on the frontline of international response to the worst outbreak in the disease's history. 

In his article “Time of Duty,” which was published on Saturday, the retired Cuban leader said that medical staff trying to save lives are the best example of human solidarity. "The use of the death penalty in the U.S. is dwindling, with the number of executions and death sentences reaching multiyear lows in 2014. 

In 2014, 35 people were executed—the fewest since 1994, according to the latest annual report by the Death Penalty Information Center. Executions took place in only seven states.
Meanwhile, 72 people were sentenced to death this year, the lowest number since 1974, the report said."
