New Catholic Teachings

God, God on Earth:

  1. "All things were created through him and for him. The Father has brought the universe into existence through his Son. This cosmic reality is the Christian message, the faith of the church. .... Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe."
  2. "Before the Lord the whole universe is as a grain from a balance or a drop of morning dew come down upon the earth. While we stand in awe of the splendor and vastness of galaxies, now seen in unparalleled detail, the Bible invites us to draw near to God, the all-powerful creator of this universe in all its immense and ancient beauty. God, the creator of the universe, is a God of love. God is not an abstract philosophical being standing passively at the origins of the universe. God who creates innumerable galaxies in their mysterious beauty is the same God who has personally loved each of us into being, creating us in and for love of God. God desires your friendship and the friendship of all those who are lost. And this divine desire inspires us to the same awe and wonder we experience in seeing telescopic images of the universe."
  3. "God is going to send his Spirit to empower and guide someone to rule humanity for him. He will straighten out society according to God’s ideas of justice. How this will happen is more than the human mind can grasp."

  4. "A child will be born who will be named Emmanuel, which is simply the Hebrew for “God is with us!”

  5. "We need something — Someone — to direct our hearts, to empower us to love, to comfort us in darkness. Maturing involves coming to see more and more clearly that every good thought and plan and act comes from the God who loves us as a mother loves the new baby blinking up at her."

  6. "God longs to be with each one of us."

  7. "The Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity is not a theological abstraction but a graced opportunity to contemplate the wondrous love of God who is a community of divine person. The psalmist invites us to praise the goodness of the divine community of Father, Son and Holy Spirit as he gives thanks for the heavens, the moon and the stars, animals, birds and fish of the sea. These marvelous works of God, the divine artist, are crowned by the creation of man and woman, created from the beginning to exist in a community of love. The author of Proverbs echoes the same song of praise to God for creating the heavens, the seas, all earth’s creatures, and for finding “delight in the human race.”

  8. Merciful and gracious is the Lord, slow to anger and abounding in kindness."

  9. "God’s accomplishment will include every way He acted in and through those who cooperated with HimThat means that all of our efforts to work with God will be revealed as part of his plan of salvation brought to fulfillment."

  10. "The Christian writer, C.S. Lewis once wrote, “I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.”"

  11. "To call God “Homemaker” would be entirely appropriate. He sustains the immense universe in which Earth has come into existence and has become home for all of us."

  12. "The word of God calls to conversion, heals, and raises up."

  13. "The desire for God is written by God on each human heart."

  14. "Faith is a love story with God. God loves us as one who is enamoured: not to the minimum but to the maximum."

And then all the way down to the governance and guidance of individuals, the so called guardian angels, which we all have."

  4. "Christians are given opportunity to gain much strength and courage by meditating on Jesus’ Lordship and the fact that all of us are by right subjected to his dominion. This is a day to “freely acknowledge” that Jesus “must reign in our minds” through submission to the truth he has revealed. “He must reign in our wills,” as we obey him. “He must reign in our hearts,” as we love and cleave to him alone."

  5. "God knows our every need so our prayers are meant to draw us closer to God. The fruit of faith-filled, persistent prayer is a gradual transformation of our inner life into childlike faith and rest in the peace and mercy of God. Prayer changes us radically so that as we grow in friendship with God we approach our creator like trusting children who remain confident in the good gifts of their parents."

  1. “A holy day has dawned upon us. Come, you nations, and adore the Lord. For today a great light has come upon the earth. What came to be through him is life, and this life is the light of the human race; the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”
World to come:
  1. "The Lord promises us the living water of eternal life."
  2. "We are created in and for love! We hear in the Book of Revelation, “Behold, I make all things new." God’s dwelling is with the human race. He dwells with them, and they are his people and God himself will always be with them as their God.”
  3. “Strengthen the hands that are feeble, make firm the knees that are weak, say to those whose hearts are frightened: Be strong, fear not! Here is your God …. he comes to save you. Rulership:
  1. "God's justice is the mercy that saves."
Future of Church:
  1. "Jesus in and through his word and sacrament continues to call each one of us to new life in him by the power of his divine word. .... All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that one who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every good work."
  2. "The message of the Gospel is not an abstract philosophy, but a concrete way of life that extends God’s mercy to those in need. The word of God “is something very near to us, already in our mouths and in our hearts; we have only to carry it out.” Jesus is “the head of the body, the church,” in whom “all the fullness was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile all things for him"."
  3. “The Lord God has given me a well-trained tongue,” a prophet says, “that I might know how to speak to the weary a word that will rouse them”.
