• Message to the Saudis - It's not necessary to crush your opponent for regional dominance. Better - bolster your own economy.

• Why can't the West form close ties with Iran (with Nuclear deals)? 

Egypt 

• Above all, mass killings, etc. of Muslim brotherhood supporters has to be stopped immediately. 

Encourage both Iran and Saudi Arabia to bolster their economies - more economic interdependence, more commerce with America with benefit to both.

Caretaker Government Can Show The Way Of Peace In Syria

In Syria, People belonging to the “rebels” groups who have lost their family members in the civil war, are not ready to accept Bashar Al-Assad as the President.

There are talks going on at the moment organized by UN for transition of power to a transitional government.

But the Syrian regime doesn’t want to hand over power. We have seen support towards Bashar Al-Assad’s government from both Iran and Russia.

More than 110,000 people have lost their lives. What is the point of adding more to that?

Besides, Syrian land has become a fertile ground for growth of opposing groups of militants and extremists.

If we are not cautious now, we might have to pay long term price.


Democracy has to be restored. People should be given the right to choose their own leaders and representatives and it's the responsibility of leaders to win people's hearts.

America can propose for a caretaker government to hold a free and fair election and hand over power to the winning political party.

In Bangladesh, we have seen interim caretaker government holding free and fair elections successfully in the years 1996, 2001 and 2008. An advisory council led by the last retired chief justice of the Supreme Court rules the country for three months and holds the election before an elected government takes over in Bangladesh.

The caretaker government could be such that

• The chief of the caretaker government is acceptable to all the parties involved. 
• Military and arms support from outside countries are stopped immediately. 
• The caretaker government shows zero tolerance to extremists and militias, no matter what ideology they represent. 
• The situation in Syria returns at least close to normal. Initiatives are taken to bring back all the refugees back to Syria. The refugee situation is causing disastrous effects in the Middle East. Humanitarian efforts are undertaken. 
• A definite time period is determined during which the caretaker government rules. Before the time period ends, a free, fair, credible and internationally acceptable election is held. 

Iran and Russia can make sure the Syrian regime accepts the proposal.

We hope all the leaders would show more tolerance for the sake of humanity.

Conflicting Interest In Regional Dominance Encouraging Militants And Extremists In Middle East: Is It Acceptable?

In the Middle East, regional dominance and Shiite-Sunni conflict is giving rise to and encouraging militants and extremists.

Saudi Arabia and it’s allies and Iran and it’s allies are in opposite groups, with Saudi Arabia being Sunni dominant and Iran being Shiite dominant.

Because of power conflict and interest in regional dominance, both sides are encouraging groups of opposing militants and extremists.

But does “Islam”, a word derived from “Salam”, which literally means “peace”, really encourage or even approve such conflicts?
Suicide and collateral damage are forbidden in Islam and the person who commits suicide is destined to go to hell.
Prophet Muhammad declared unity of humanity in his last sermon, "All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action." [1]

In the age of globalization, it’s the mutual economic relationship and mutual economic engagement, not military engagement, that brings prosperity.

The deal is revolutionary.

Years of opposition and suspicion from both sides. 

A lot of conflicts arise between people who have closed dependent minds. They divide the world into black and white, right and wrong with nothing in between. They view their way as the only right one and others' as wrong ones. They never try to be themselves, instead following the path others have shown them without much consideration or reflection.

People in general categorize everything they see around them into different predefined categories. It helps them make quick decisions because they know what to do with a certain category. But how can we be so sure that the categories and the knowledge associated with each category, that our society and culture has taught us, is correct?

Why not think for ourselves?

In the age of globalization, in the age of open and interdependent economies, we would like to see a more connected world.

People in Iran elected moderate Rouhani as their President this year. They wanted to see change. It’s evident that President Obama wanted to see change as well.

We would like to see peaceful use of Nuclear Energy by Iran and gradual and careful withdrawal of sanctions by Westerners.

American companies should make the most of it. Win-win, Non zero-sum.

A game where a player wins 5 points and his opponent loses 5 points is zero-sum. 5+(-5) = 0. In a zero-sum game, the more a player wins, the more his opponent loses. On the other hand, in a non zero-sum game, the outcome is not zero. For example, if a player wins 5 points and his opponent wins 4 points, the overall outcome is 5 + 4 = 9. So, it’s win-win - both wins.

মানবতাবিরোধী যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের বিচার নিয়ে সহিংসতা

প্রকৃত অপরাধীদের বিচারের বিধান ইসলাম এ আছে। প্রকৃত অপরাধীদের বিচারের মুখোমুখি করা না হলে সমাজে বিশৃঙ্খলা - নৈতিক অবক্ষয় দেখা দেয়। অপরাধীরা মনে করে অপরাধ করেও আইনের উরধে থাকা যাবে। মানবতাবিরধী অপরাধীদের বিচার না হলে দেশে আবার মানবতাবিরধী অপরাধ ঘটতে পারে। আইনের শাসন প্রতিষ্ঠার জন্য সব অপরাধীকেই বিচারের মুখোমুখি করতে হবে।

ইসলাম শব্দটি এসেছে “সালাম” থেকে; সালাম অর্থ “শান্তি”। 

ইসলাম শান্তির ধর্ম। বিনা বিচারে সহিংসতা, বিনা অপরাধে কারও উপর আক্রমণ ইসলাম সমর্থন করে না। আর বিনা কারণে মানুষ হত্যা কত বড় পাপ। (৭১ এ যারা খুন, নারীদের সম্ভ্রমহানি করেছে বা করতে সহায়তা করেছে তাদের রক্ষার জন্য ২০১৩ তে আরও খুন? এরাই নিরপরাধ বেক্তিকে খুন করার লক্ষ্যে প্রচেষ্টা চালিয়েছিল অন্যের ভিত্তিহীন উদ্দেশ্য প্রণোদিত গুজবে প্ররোচিত হয়ে - এমন অভিজ্ঞতা রয়েছে। কোন রকম বিবেক বিবেচনার ধার না ধেরে মানুষ হত্যা - এটা কিরকম বর্বরতা।) ইসলাম রক্ষার নামে সহিংসতায় উৎসাহিত করা কাউকে জেনে বুঝে বিপথে পরিচালিত করার নামান্তর মাত্র। 

হজরত মুহম্মদ (স) আমাদের শিখিয়েছেন “দেশপ্রেম ঈমানের অঙ্গ।” নিজের দেশের সম্পদ ধ্বংস করে কি আমরা ঈমান থেকে দূরে সরে যাচ্ছি না?

দেশবাসির প্রতি অনুরোধ, সবাই যে যার অবস্থানে থেকে দেশের যুব সমাজকে বিপথে নিয়ে যাওয়ার বিরুদ্ধে রুখে দাঁড়াবেন। শান্তির পথে, কল্যাণের পথে ফিরিয়ে আনবেন।

আমরা প্রত্যাশা করি, আমাদের যুব সমাজ ভাল-মন্দের পথ নির্ধারণে অন্যের কথায় অন্ধভাবে পরিচালিত না হয়ে নিজেদের বিচার-বুদ্ধি কাজে লাগাবেন।

আর যারা এই আহ্বানে কর্ণপাত না করে সহিংসতা, মানুষ হত্যা অব্যাহত রাখবেন, তাদের নিরপেক্ষ তদন্ত এবং উন্নত প্রযুক্তির মাধ্যমে চিহ্নিত করে বিচারের আওতায় আনতে হবে।

অবাধ, সুষ্ঠু ও গ্রহণযোগ্য নির্বাচনের পক্ষে অবস্থান

বর্তমান নতুন মন্ত্রিসভার সরকারকে “সর্বদলীয়”, “অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন”, “বহুদলীয়”, “মহাজোটিয়” ইত্যাদি কোন বিশেষণে বিশেষায়িত করা যায় তা নিয়ে ভেবে সময় নষ্ট না করে আমরা সাধারণ জনগণ সরকারের কার্যকলাপ পর্যবেক্ষণ করব এবং আমাদের পর্যবেক্ষণ তুলে ধরব।

তত্ত্বাবধায়ক সরকারের সাবেক উপদেষ্টা ডঃ ওয়াহিদউদ্দিন মাহমুদ নভেম্বর ২০, ২০১৩ তে প্রথম আলোতে লিখিত কিছু প্রস্তাব দিয়েছেন বর্তমান সরকারকে - “চিহ্নিত সন্ত্রাসীদের কাছ থেকে অবৈধ অস্ত্র উদ্ধার অভিযান পরিচালনা, বাংলাদেশ টেলিভিশনসহ সরকার পরিচালিত অন্যান্য গণমাধ্যমকে দলীয় প্রভাবমুক্ত করে সুষ্ঠু নির্বাচনের পরিবেশ তৈরির কাজে ব্যবহার করা, দলীয়ভাবে চিহ্নিত কর্মকর্তারা জনপ্রশাসনের গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পদে থাকলে তাঁদের অন্যত্র সরিয়ে দেওয়া, স্থানীয় পর্যায়ের প্রশাসনে কিছু রদবদলের মাধ্যমে নিরপেক্ষ নির্বাচন-প্রক্রিয়ার সপক্ষে একটি স্পষ্ট বার্তা পৌঁছে দেওয়া, আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনীগুলোকে দলনিরপেক্ষভাবে কাজ করার লক্ষ্যে কার্যকর প্রকাশ্য নির্দেশনা প্রদান এবং সর্বোপরি প্রয়োজনে নির্বাচন কমিশনকে আংশিক বা সম্পূর্ণভাবে পুনর্গঠিত করা।” এসব নিশ্চিত করা বিরোধী দলের মত আমলে না নিয়ে তত্ত্বাবধায়ক সরকার বাবস্থা বাতিল করা বর্তমান সরকারের দায়িত্ব। বার্থ হলে বর্তমান সরকারের অধীনে সুষ্ঠু নির্বাচন কেন সম্ভব নয় আমরা জনগণের সামনে তুলে ধরব - এ ব্যাপারে মাঠ পর্যায়ে সচেতনতা সৃষ্টি করতে হবে।

বর্তমান সরকার যদি সরকারি সুবিধা ব্যবহার করে, লোকদেখানো ভিত্তিপ্রস্তর স্থাপন করে এবং সরকারি অর্থ ব্যবহার করে নির্বাচনী প্রচারণা চালানো অব্যাহত রাখে তবে “লেভেল প্লেয়িং ফিল্ড” সৃষ্টি করে সুষ্ঠু নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠানের দাবি প্রহসনের ব্যাপারে পরিণত হবে। বিরোধী দলগুলো নির্বাচনে অংশগ্রহণ করবে না, ২০ ভাগ ভোটও সুষ্ঠুভাবে পড়বে কিনা তা নিয়ে সন্দেহের অবকাশ আছে (অনেকগুলো আসনে বিনা প্রতিদ্বন্দ্বিতায় নির্বাচিত হবেন), বিদেশি নির্বাচনী পর্যবেক্ষকরা পর্যবেক্ষণের জন্য থাকবেন না - জনগণের অর্থে বিপুল বায়বহুল এমন একটি সাধারণ নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠানের বিরুদ্ধে জনগণ অহিংস অসহযোগ আন্দোলন গড়ে তুলবে। জনগণ নিজেদের ভোটের অধিকার রক্ষায়, স্বপ্নের বাংলাদেশ গড়তে আমাদের পাশে থাকবে।

Peace in Syria

The Syrian civil war has to end. We want peace.

Iran can play a vital role. Russia and Iran can converse with the rest of Middle East and Western countries to make the Syrian government and all the different groups sit together, find a roadmap that is acceptable to everyone and end the civil war and restore peace.

As a first step, military and arms support from outside countries should be stopped immediately. More than 110,000 people have lost their lives. What is the point of adding more to that?

The veto power in the United Nations has been a major roadblock.

অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন সরকারঃ কিছু প্রস্তাব - ৩

আমরা সরকারি দলের প্রধান বিরোধী দলকে আমলে না নিয়ে নেতা কর্মীদের গ্রেপ্তার করে, আইনশৃঙ্খলা বাহিনীকে ব্যবহার করে দমন নিপীড়ন চালিয়ে একতরফা নির্বাচন করে ফেলার যে সম্ভবনা দেখছি - সেই প্রচেষ্টাকে যেমনি প্রত্যাখ্যান করি, তেমনি প্রধান বিরোধী দলের “দা - কুড়াল”, ককটেল ইত্যাদি দিয়ে “জ্বালাও - পোড়াও” চালিয়ে, জনগণের জানমালের ক্ষতি করে হরতাল পালনে বাধ্য করাকেও একইভাবে প্রত্যাখ্যান করি।

দেশের রাজনৈতিক সংস্কৃতি বিবেচনা করলে একটি নির্দলীয় নিরপেক্ষ সরকারের অধীনে নির্বাচনই জনগণের কাছে নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠানের একমাত্র গ্রহণযোগ্য মাধ্যম এবং দেশের সিংহভাগ জনগণ সাম্প্রতিক কিছু জরিপেও এমনটাই জানিয়েছে।

সরকারি দল একতরফাভাবে নির্বাচন করলে এবং বিরোধী দলগুলো তাতে অংশ না নিলে দেশের ৫০ ভাগের উপর জনগণ ভোট দিতে নির্বাচন কেন্দ্রে যাবে না এবং দেশি বিদেশি নির্বাচনী পর্যবেক্ষণ সংস্থাগুলোও নির্বাচনে পর্যবেক্ষক পাঠাবে না। জনগণের বিপুল অর্থে একটি তথাকথিত নির্বাচনকে জনগণও প্রতিহত করবে। প্রয়োজনে অহিংস অসহযোগ আন্দোলনের কর্মসূচি দেওয়া যেতে পারে, কিন্তু জনগণের জানমালের ক্ষতি করে এমন কোন কর্মসূচি মেনে নেওয়া হবে না।

এমতাবস্থায় সরকারের ভেতরে এবং বাইরে থাকা সবগুলো দলের সাথে আলোচনা করে, সবগুলো দলের কাছে গ্রহণযোগ্য একজনকে অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন সরকার প্রধান হিসেবে রাষ্ট্রপতি মনোনয়ন দিতে পারেন এবং বর্তমান সংবিধান সমুন্নত রাখতে প্রয়োজনে তাকে উপনির্বাচনে বিজয়ী করে আনার বাবস্থা করা যেতে পারে। অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন সরকার প্রধান এবং রাষ্ট্রপতি অন্তর্বর্তীকালীন সরকার গঠন করবেন (সংসদের মেয়াদ যেহেতু এখনও শেষ হয়নি কাজেই প্রয়োজনীয় আইন পাশ করিয়ে আনা যেতে পারে) এবং একটি অবাধ সুষ্ঠু ও গ্রহণযোগ্য নির্বাচন জনগণকে উপহার দিবেন।

দেশের জনগণের পক্ষে আবেদন

মাননীয় প্রধানমন্ত্রী এবং বিরোধী দলীয় নেত্রীর নির্বাচনকালীন সরকার প্রস্তাবের মাঝে আমরা যে আশার আলো দেখেছিলাম, তা এক ঝলকে নিভে গেছে তিনদিন ব্যাপী হরতাল এবং সেই তিনদিনের প্রতিদিনই নিহত এবং হতাহতের ঘটনায়।

দুই নেত্রী বহুদিন পর কথা বলছেন। এমন অবস্থায় আমরা দেশের জনগণ যখন নির্বাচনকালীন সরকার বিষয়ে দুই নেত্রীর মতৈক্যের আশায় ছিলাম, তখন আমরা দেখলাম মূল সমস্যার সমাধান না করে দুই নেত্রীর পারস্পরিক আক্রমণ।

বিরোধী দল “দা-কুড়াল” বা অন্য কোন উপায়ে সহিংস কর্মসূচি গ্রহন করলে দেশের সচেতন নাগরিকরা তীব্রভাবে এর প্রতিবাদ করবেন এবং জনগণ আগামী নির্বাচনে তাদের প্রত্যাখ্যান করবে।

অন্যদিকে, সরকারি দল আইন শৃঙ্খলা বাহিনীকে ব্যবহার করে দমন - নিপীড়ন চালালে তারা সুষ্ঠু নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠানের যে প্রতিশ্রুতি দিচ্ছে তা হাস্য রসাত্মক বিষয়ে পরিণত হবে।

দেশে দুই দলের এই মুখোমুখি অবস্থানের সুযোগ নিয়ে মানবতাবিরোধী যুদ্ধাপরাধীদের রক্ষা করতে কোন দল ধর্মের দোহাই দিয়ে যুবকদের সহিংসতা চালানো কিংবা অপপ্রচার, গুজব রটানোর কাজে ব্যবহার করলে সচেতন নাগরিকরা প্রতিবাদ করবেন এবং যুবকরাও এই পথ পরিহার করবেন। ইসলাম ধর্মে উদ্দেশ্য প্রণোদিত সহিংসতা কিংবা অপপ্রচারের (ইসলাম শব্দটি এসেছে "সালাম" থেকে, যার অর্থ "শান্তি"; ইসলামে গীবত করা মৃত ভাইয়ের গোশত খাওয়ার মত বড় অপরাধ) কোন স্থান নেই।

জনগণ স্বতঃস্ফূর্ত ভাবে প্রতিবাদ হিসেবে হরতাল পালন করলে তাতে কারোরই সমস্যা থাকার কারন নেই - কারণ যারা প্রতিবাদ জানাতে চান শুধুমাত্র তারাই হরতাল পালন করবেন। কিন্তু জনগণের জানমালের ক্ষতি করে, "জ্বালাও - পোড়াও" চালিয়ে, ভয় দেখিয়ে জনগণকে দেশের অর্থনীতির জন্য চরমভাবে ক্ষতিকর হরতাল পালনে বাধ্য করা হলে জনগণ সম্মিলিতভাবে তা বর্জন করবে। দেশের বিভিন্ন গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পরীক্ষার সময় হরতাল দিয়ে আমাদের রাজনীতিবিদরা কোমলমতিদের পড়াশোনার ক্ষতি করবেন না বলেই আমরা আশা করি।


দেশের জনগণ আর সহিংস কর্মসূচি কিংবা এর বিরুদ্ধে দমন - নিপীড়ন কোনটাই দেখতে চায় না।

দুই নেত্রী নিজেরা আলোচনা করে ঐক্যমতে পৌঁছাবেন এমন আশাও আমরা করতে পারছি না।

আমরা উভয় দলের কাছে গ্রহনযোগ্য এমন একজনকে দেখতে চাই যিনি নির্বাচনকালীন সরকার প্রধান হিসেবে দুই দলের প্রস্তাবের দূরত্ব দূর করে নির্বাচনকালীন সরকার গঠন করবেন এবং একটি সুষ্ঠু, গ্রহণযোগ্য নির্বাচন জাতিকে উপহার দেবেন।

দুই দল দ্রুত নির্বাচনকালীন সরকার প্রধান হিসেবে গ্রহনযোগ্য একজনকে মনোনীত করে সংবিধান সমুন্নত রাখতে প্রয়োজনে তাকে উপনির্বাচনে বিজয়ী করে আনতে পারে।

দুই দল এই ব্যাপারে একমত হলে দেশ তার আরও সন্তান হারানোর সম্ভাবনা থেকে মুক্তি পাবে। জনগণের প্রতিনিধি রাজনীতিবিদরা কি আমাদের সাধারণ জনগণের কথা একটি বার ভাববেন না?

নির্বাচনকালীন সরকারবাবস্থা নিয়ে অবস্থানঃ সহিংসতার বিপক্ষে, শান্তির পক্ষে

নির্বাচনকালীন সরকারবাবস্থা নিয়ে সরকার এবং প্রধান বিরোধী দলের মুখোমুখি অবস্থানে দেশবাসী আতঙ্কিত। ২৫ অক্টোবর এবং তার পরবর্তী দিনগুলোতে কর্মসূচি নিয়ে সরকার এবং প্রধান বিরোধী - উভয় দলের নেতারা আগ্রাসী বক্তব্য (“লগি - বৈঠা” এর বিপরীতে “দা - কুড়াল”) দিচ্ছেন। দেশের জনগণ চায় তাদের ভোটের অধিকার সুষ্ঠুভাবে প্রয়োগ করতে। কিন্তু তার জন্য জনগণের জানমালের ক্ষতি হোক – এটাও কেউ চায় না।  

সরকারি এবং বিরোধী দলগুলো নিজ নিজ দাবির পক্ষে গনসচেতনতা সৃষ্টি করতে পারে, শান্তিপূর্ণ কর্মসূচি পালন করতে পারে। কিন্তু কোন দল জনগণের জানমালের ক্ষতি করলে জনগণ তাদেরকে প্রত্যাখ্যান করবে। অন্যদিকে, বিরোধী দলগুলোকে শান্তিপূর্ণ কর্মসূচি পালনের সুযোগ না দিলে, সরকার অবাধ, সুষ্ঠু নির্বাচন অনুষ্ঠানের যে প্রতিশ্রুতি দিচ্ছে - সেই প্রতিশ্রুতি গ্রহণযোগ্যতা হারাবে। 


সরকার এবং বিরোধী উভয়দলের নেতারা ক্ষমতার লোভে জনগণকে মুখোমুখি অবস্থানে দাঁড় করিয়ে দেবেন – কোন সচেতন নাগরিক তা মেনে নিতে পারেন না।

আমরা অতীতে দেখেছি দেশের ক্রান্তিলগ্নে জনগণের দায়িত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা।

আজ আরও একবার সময় এসেছে দেশের আপামর জনসাধারণের ঐক্যের।

সচেতন নাগরিক সমাজ সম্মিলিতভাবে সবরকম সহিংস কর্মসূচি প্রত্যাখ্যান করবেন, জনগণের মাঝে সচেতনতা সৃষ্টি করবেন এবং সহিংস কর্মসূচির বিরুদ্ধে শান্তিপূর্ণ অবস্থান নেবেন – এই অবস্থান কোন দলের পক্ষে বা বিপক্ষে নয়, এই অবস্থান সহিংস কর্মসূচির বিরুদ্ধে, দেশের জনগণের জানমালের ক্ষতির বিরুদ্ধে, এই অবস্থান শান্তির পক্ষে।
